A rail anchor is also called rail anticreeper, it is a device used to prevent the longitudinal movement of the rail. It is placed under the rail baseplate and bears against the sides of the rail sleepers. The 90lb rail anchor is designed to suit 90-pound rails and is made of spring steel or alloy steel. It is manufactured in one-piece construction, heat-treated, and designed to eliminate creepage of track . The rail anchor provides a large bearing surface against both rail base and tie, avoiding undue cutting and wear, thus prolonging the life of wooden ties.
